2012

I decided to post today because quite frankly I feel like I am beginning a new life.  For the first time in 4 years, I am no longer working the late shift.  I am no longer working from 11a – 8p every day.  I have a new schedule that starts on Monday and with it, my work days end at 5p like a normal person.

  • I will be done with work in the DAYLIGHT.
  • I can join my friends for dinner or drinks after work.
  • I can schedule get-togethers with classmates for work on group projects.
  • I can watch some of my favorite TV shows LIVE if I want to.
  • I can go to the library early enough in the evening to still be home in bed by 10:00p.
  • I can go to a 7:30p movie.
  • I can eat lunch at noon and dinner at 6:00p.
  • I can take an evening walk before the sun sets.

The bucket list of daylight activities is endless.   I feel like a whole new person with new possibilities.

Welcome 2012.

Guide to Warding off Monsters

Folk wisdom dictates that every monster has a weakness. Cataloging and stockpiling these tricks and trinkets will protect you and your family throughout the upcoming monster season. Here’s how to thwart the most commonly encountered monsters:

  • Vampire: Allergic to garlic, sensitive to sunlight, indifferent to silver, and terrified of disappointing their god (the moon).
  • Werewolf: Can be felled by silver bullet or a golden opportunity to be hit by lightning.
  • Franken-Mummy: The reanimated corpse of a Frankenstein, a Franken-Mummy is unable to harm anyone who utters the magic incantation “please, no.”
  • Insecurity: Quell this inner demon by reminding yourself you are a talented, amazing person. Unless you’re not, which is far more likely.
  • Cookie Monster: Don’t be scared of this monster—he’s slowly killing himself with his lifestyle.

Found this on the internet somewhere – thought it was fun.

Internet Cinema Saturday

This is so great.  People are so creative.

More A/C hell……

…..of course, I have the portable room A/C unit for my bedroom/office so when it is 105 outside and 83 in my stupid apartment I can still be cool.  Well, trust me, you can still experience A/C hell in this situation, when at 2:30a the portable A/C stops and turns off because the water resevoir that keeps the water compensation is FULL and must be emptied in order to operate the A/C.

So, yes, at 2:30a this morning I was up, unplugging it, removing it from the window vent, rolling it to the front door and opening the front door to lean it out and drain water.  Then I was rolling it back in, hooking it all back up and turning it back on.

Back to sleep…….ugh !

Internet Cinema Saturday

The new post name comes basically from my brother, Joey.   Now, in this week’s video is a famous internet cat, Maru.  He is hilarious.  There are many many videos of him on youtube, you can do a search….but this is his intro video.  The last minute with the boxes is the best.  Enjoy.

Three Signs You’re in the Wrong Job

1. It’s not just that they don’t pay you enough, it’s that they couldn’t ever pay you enough to make you feel good.

2. You believe that nothing you do makes the least bit of difference.

3. You’re not learning anything.

Upcoming weather……yippee

Weekend recap…..

So,  I worked Saturday and Monday on this glorious holiday weekend – and on top of that, No Frills A/C  is having issues so we were only there for about an hour and half…..so I think my lump sum, one-on-one people time this weekend was a big whopping…..yep, hour and a half.

Now to be fair, I did spend time in the library Sunday, where I was around other humans, although I had no interaction with any of them.  I did run a few errands, and spoke to a couple of cashiers when making my purchases.  And, I did go to a movie last night, Larry Crowne, so there was a couple of minutes with the ticket person when I bought my ticket.

I know, poor pitiful pearl.  Ha ha !!

So, 2 more days of school this week and then final Monday – I will be glad when it is over.  Woo hoo.

I personally DID like Larry Crowne.  I did not think Julia Roberts did as little as possible to get a paycheck and I did not think Tom Hanks played an older Forrest Gump.  It wasn’t really a romance……it was a movie about a guy that got fired from his job and went back to college…..and all the things that happened to him during that life change, including meeting Julia Robert’s character.   I don’t know how anyone can comment on the chemistry between them when there was no relationship other that teacher/student really until the last 3 minutes of the film.  It’s no Sleepless in Seattle or You’ve Got Mail…..but I liked it.  Recommended for older film goers.

Have a great week……..ha, like anyone is reading this.
