I did it !  Woo hoo !!  Actually, I’ve done it three times now.  When I first came down to Florida to get moving and get healthy I could barely walk 1/2 mile without being winded.  I was so out of shape from working from home, it was horrible.  Well, last week, I decided to try “walking the bridge”.  Over the 11 months I have been here I have steadily increased my walking and my weight loss and can fairly easily walk a mile on any given day, probably more.

Well, there is a bridge here called the Peace River Bridge.  It has a walking path on both sides and people walk it every day.  It is approximately 1.5 miles each way.  Well, last Monday, I think, I got up and decided I was going to walk it.  I put my shoes on, grabbed my iPod and a bottle of juice and drove up to the Best Western parking lot, where I was going to start.  I wasn’t sure if I would go all the way over and back or half way and back or what but I felt it was time to give it a try.  I checked my watch and headed off.  One hour later I was back at my car and I had walked all the way over and back.  Woo hoo !!  3 miles with ups and downs.

This week I made a plan to start walking it on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  On Tuesday, I took the following pictures with my mobile phone as I walked….so here is picture narrative on “walking the bridge” :

Isn’t she lovely ?  I got this picture from my sister a week or so ago.  Apparently for her summer break Morgan has decided to go pink.  I think it looks great.  I can’t wait to see it in person when she comes down in two weeks.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMA !

  1. What’s a subject you feel confident in your knowledge of?

Most math questions, logic questions.  I think I am probably pretty good at current events also.

  2. What’s a subject you are privately embarrassed not to know more about?

Geography.  And, not really privately, I complain about it all the time.

  3. Who knows you best?

Hmmm…..I’m not sure.  There are people that know different sides, not sure any ONE person knows me best.  I would pick JoLynn, Joey, Courtney, Charles, Tom, Jeffrey and Linda for all knowing enough that if they got together they’d be experts.

  4. If you could spend a year dedicated full-time to becoming an expert on any topic at all, what would you choose?

    U.S. History

  5. If you were on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, whose names would you submit as your three lifelines, and what subjects would each person be your go-to person for?

How many do you get ?  3 ?  I’d probably pick my Uncle Jim, my brother Joey and hmmmm, Alberto I think.  I have lots of friends that are experts on certain subjects, so if you are not listed don’t take it personally, but with just 3 to pick , I think this would be the most well-rounded group.

….I did.  I have always been a huge Michael Jackson fan.  Thriller came out when I was in high school and I remember watching the video over and over on MTv.  I had MJ posters and when the Michael Jackson barbie-like doll came out, I had it sitting on my shelf in my room along with my Tracy Bride doll.  I wasn’t in love with him in a romantic way really – I was just in awe with his talent and his presence.

Over the years, he changed.  We all did.  Yes, he became more unique as he got older.  I didn’t understand all of his decisions or his lifestyle.  But, my awe of his talent never faltered.

I will probably remember him best like this :

Michael Jackson

RIP Michael Jackson
August 29, 1958  -  June 25, 2009

Added some stuff to the bucket list yesterday :

  • own a house
  • go on an African safari
  • learn to play the piano
  • visit all 50 states
  • build a habitat for humanity home
  • visit Cardiff, Wales
  • watch a TV show being filmed
  • see John Barrowman perform live
  • get a tweet from Christopher Gorham

Do you have a bucket list yet ??

Master list here.

  1. How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?

3-5 I’d say.  It depends on how late I was up the night before, and how early I really need to be up.

  2. How many cousins do you have?

Oh God.  I’m sure I should know this…..let me count.    11 first cousins [not counting significant others or their children].   2 on my mom’s side and 9 on my dad’s.   [Tom - correct me on that if I am wrong - mine are yours.]

  3. How many bones have you broken?

ZERO – and let’s keep it that way.

  4. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I’m not going to go count – but I’d say around 20.

  5. How many things that belong in the kitchen are in your bedroom?

Ha.  I’m sure there is a glass of melted ice water in there.  I think that’s it.

Yeah, I am a nerd.  Big time.  Well, I am a fan.  So anyway, back in February, I went to this convention in Orlando called MegCon – it is a SciFi convention basically.  I went because, well, I went because I wanted to meet Gareth David-Lloyd who was going to be there signing autographs.   I also thought it would be fun to go to the convention because I knew there would be all kinds of people there and people would be dressed up, etc.

Why Gareth David-Lloyd ?  Well, he plays a character on my favorite British TV show, Torchwood.  It is a spin-off of Doctor Who another British TV favorite.  His character’s name is Ianto Jones.  I figured this was probably a once in a lifetime chance, since the stars of this show don’t come to the states that often, mainly for the HUGE ComiCon in  San Diego each year.

Here is my picture with him [of course I look horrible and he looks awesome] :

Ianto is hugging me !

Yes, I use twitter.  It is a social networking thing where you can just enter like one or two sentences to say what you are doing or a thought or whatever.  I have mine set to simultaneously post to my Facebook also.  Anyway, I was/am a big fan of the TV show Ugly Betty and more specifically the pairing of characters Henry and Betty.  Henry is no longer on the show but was played wonderfully by actor, Christopher Gorham.

Well, lately I have been adding “famous” people to my twitter friends and the other day I added him.  I posted this message on my twitter shortly after :

Just added “get a reply tweet from @Chris_Gorham” to my bucket list.

And, about 2 minutes later – he posted this :

Chris_Gorham@totallytracy  Check. : )

How fun is that ??

If you don’t already – you can follow me here.

  1. Do you drink enough water?

Probably not.  I actually do crave water sometimes and I tend to drink a lot at night if I am going to drink it. But I still probably don’t drink enough.

  2. Where’s the nearest swimmable body of water?

I live in a community with a pool.  So it is right down the street, maybe 1/2 a mile.

  3. When did you learn to swim?

Hmmmm…..I remember taking swimming lessons at the YMCA I think.  It was when we lived in Chicago.  I remember swimming at a community pool, maybe even on the swim team - gasp.  I must have been between ages 7-9 when I learned.  That’s my best guess.

  4. How do you feel about rain?

I love rain.  I especially love cool rain.  And, unlike some people I really like lightning.  The really loud kind.

  5. What are your thoughts on bottled water?

I drink it more as a convenince than anything else.  I am perfectly happy drinking water out of the tap.
